The idea of Cruel Intentions being serialized began development in 2016. After seven years of waiting with not-so-baited breath, fans will be happy to hear that the series is finally about to be released.

Here is everything we know so far, including the official cast. Read on if you’re as curious as we are!

The Original Cruel Intentions Film

Hollywood stars Reese Witherspoon, Ryan Phillippe, and Sarah Michelle Gellar made their careers by featuring in the original Cruel Intentions. This iconic movie is considered one of the best teen movies of all time.

It tells the story of rich NYC high schoolers during their summer break and involves some classic stepsibling relationships and problems. We don’t know whether the series will follow the original plot, but there’s other intriguing information about the release.

The New Series Premise

The new series will take place at a prestigious university in Washington. Just like the original, the plot will be led by the two cruel stepsiblings who make a bet, targeting the daughter of the university’s vice president.

Sara Goodman and Phoebe Fisher, who worked on the series, expressed their excitement to bring back memories of a movie loved by so many. They promised to keep things as fun and dramatic as the original.

Who Will Star in the Series?

The cruel stepsister will be portrayed by Savannah Lee Smith, who we watched in Max’s Gossip Girl remake. This seems like a perfect decision, judging by the similarities between Cruel Intentions and the original Gossip Girl.

Some other stars confirmed to star in the series are Sarah Catherine Hook, Zac Burgess, Sara Silva, Khobe Clarke, John Harlan Kim, and Brooke Lena Johnson. Another surprise will be Sean Patrick Thomas, who starred as a music tutor in the original movie. However, this time we’ll get to see him in a different role.

Amazon Prime has confirmed 8 episodes, but a release date has not been confirmed. Nevertheless, we can’t wait.
