The narration unveils that Pokémon Concierge will center on the titular employee at a Pokémon resort.

A Stop-Motion Pokémon Series

Pokémon Concierge Is Netflix's New Stop-Motion Animation Series

Netflix has become the exclusive streaming platform for the English dubbed editions of the Pokemon animated series beginning with season 23, also referred to as Pokemon Journeys. In addition, the platform will also feature the films Mewtwo Strikes Back: Evolution and Secrets of the Jungle. The announcement that Ash Ketchum and Pikachu would no longer be the central characters of the series has generated considerable buzz, although executive director Kunihiko Yuyuama recently hinted that they would make a return in the future.

Pokémon Concierge represents a significant advancement for the longstanding Pokémon franchise because it is the first collaboration between Netflix and The Pokémon Company, whereas, Netflix had only aired previously released content from Japan. The series is being produced by Dwarf Studios, which is known for its critically acclaimed stop-motion animated series Rilakkuma and Kaoru and is exploring a relatively underutilized genre format.

Netflix Enjoys Success In Stop-Motion

In recent years, Netflix has had notable achievements in the stop-motion animation genre. For instance, last year, the streaming giant released Wendell & Wild, which was directed by Henry Selick. In addition, Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio, another stop-motion animated film produced by Netflix, has already received the Best Animated Feature award at the Academy Awards, following its recent win in the same category at the Golden Globes.

Apart from its new stylistic direction, Pokémon Concierge also offers an exciting new perspective on the franchise’s exploration of its titular creatures. Unlike previous installments that mainly focused on individual Pokémon, this series introduces a resort where Pokémon can take a break from the intense battles with their trainers and go on vacation, providing an opportunity to delve deeper into the various species and their unique characteristics. Although the show is expected to revolve around the human protagonist, it will be fascinating to see how Pokémon Concierge explores different aspects of the Pokémon universe.

Top Stand-Up Comedy Specials

Before jumping on with the list of top stand-up comedy specials to make you laugh on Netflix, let’s first give a quick recap of this wonderful form of entertainment. It first emerged in the USA around the 1840s as a development of three-act, or minstrel, shows. Before long, it became popular in the UK as well. Fast forward to the 1950s, comedians were performing on radio and television. Today’s form of live comedy entertainment emerged around the end of the 1960s when comedians started performing at small clubs. And now, back to our list.

Richard Pryor: Live in Concert

Richard Pryor’s Live in Concert is sort of a movie-format stand-up comedy show. While it’s far from the first show of its kind, it was the first to be launched in theaters. Believed to be the most significant comedy performer of all time, Richard Pryor is known for his dark puns. The comedian picks up topics that are far from funny, but he has a natural ability to turn his life’s challenges into something not just funny but, in fact, hilarious. The show was released in 1979 and is now available on Netflix.

Bo Burnham: Inside

Bo Burnham’s Inside touches upon topics like mental health, doomed culture, and the events of the last few years in professionally edited silly songs and hilarious sketches. He’s celebrated for his ability to create a facade of profundity, pointing out just how senseless today’s life actually is. On the show, he often combines specific songs with pictures of himself staring aimlessly into the distance.

The stand-up show has been described as a revelation of the terminal superficiality we all live in. While it might not be the funniest out there but it definitely packs a punch in today’s society.

Chris Rock: Tamborine

Tamborine reveals Chris Rock as the smart and sharp guy he’s always been. At the beginning of the stand-up comedy special, the star jumps into some of the most depressing problems in today’s society. Through sharp jokes, he emphasizes the need to live in a world of equality. In his own wicked way, he never crosses a line, even though he continuously jokes about hard-to-swallow topics.
